COMMUNITY WORK – UNHCR Livelihood Workshop

October 10, 2010

The DTC Workshop was invited by Shanti George of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to help train some of the refugees in jewellery making as a livelihood.

Annam (staff) and 4 Volunteers (Sarada Henry, Seonaidh Chai, Adna Mathews and Maureen Chand) spent a profitable morning training the eager ladies and men.

The “trainees” were overjoyed with their new skills and their completed products were admired and even ordered by staff of UNHCR who came to see the workshop in action.

This was followed with some of the refugees (and their translaters) coming over to the DTC Workshop to work alongside the DTC trainees, so that they could ask questions on the spot.
